The five elements of fitness

The inventor of Lagree Fitness, Sebastien Lagree, created this incredible workout with the five elements of fitness in mind: cardio, strength, endurance, body composition, and flexibility. This is because he knew that fitness isn’t simply about being strong or able to run for a long time; it’s made up of far more than that. With each of these elements in mind, he made the Megaformer workout, which incorporates small, slow movements, resistance, and a focus on the core to create a workout that will leave you shaking at the end of it. When you do a Lagree Fitness workout, you can rest assured that you are truly hitting all five elements of fitness, so after committing to a regular routine, your fitness levels skyrocket. To truly understand what we mean about each of these elements and how they fit into the Lagree workout, read on below.

cardio

Simply put, cardiovascular endurance is how well your heart, lungs, and blood vessels work to supply oxygen-rich blood to the muscles. Your level of cardiovascular endurance is shown through how well your body can keep up with cardio exercise, such as running, cycling, swimming, or any activity that puts your cardiovascular system to work. The Lagree Method works your cardiovascular system because it is a fast-paced workout. There are no rests when you’re on the Megaformer, so you know when you come into Inspire Seattle, you will be working towards greater cardiovascular endurance.

strength

Strength is the power to lift and carry heavy things. Strength is essential for being able to keep up with the demands of daily life, and when your muscles are strong, your body functions better overall. The Megaformer was specifically designed to build the strength of your slow-twitch muscles by providing resistance against your own bodyweight. Using slow, deliberate movements, this machine targets these muscles and in turn, builds strength.

endurance

Endurance refers to your muscle’s ability to contract for extended time periods. Not only can you lift and carry heavy things, you can do so for an extended period of time. This undervalued factor of physical fitness ensures that you are not only able to participate in physical activity, you can do so for a while. Lagree Fitness helps build endurance because of its heavy focus on the slow-twitch muscles. As they are activated, they promote more oxygen to the body, making it easier for you to workout for longer. Even though the Lagree workout is only 40 minutes, you will find that you are better able to keep up with this intensive workout over time.

body composition

Body composition refers to the amount of fat you have on your body. Your body composition is demonstrated through a percentage that shows the proportion of fat on your body. The Lagree workout burns fat again through the focus on slow-twitch muscles: the stronger these are, the more fat you can burn.

flexibility

Another overlooked but incredibly important element of physical fitness is flexibility. Flexibility ensures that our bodies can move properly and without stiffness. The Megaformer is specifically designed to promote flexibility by engaging the full range of the target muscle group.

At Inspire Seattle, we want to give you a bodyweight fitness workout that hits on all these important elements. If you’re ready to see what all the fuss is about, check out our schedule and come into a class today!
