What to eat after a lagree workout

Whether it’s your first Lagree workout or you’re a seasoned pro when it comes to the reformer, knowing what to eat after a workout is key. We all know that it’s important to fuel your body with the right foods and macronutrients for your health, but if you’re not fueling yourself with the right foods, you’re also not getting all the benefits from your workout. At Inspire Seattle, we want to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your workouts. You’ve worked hard and deserve to reap the benefits from that! So let’s take a look at some of the most beneficial foods that you can eat after your workouts.

hydrate

First things first, you need to make sure that you’re hydrated. Drinking enough water before, during, and after your workout can drastically help with recovery and your performance the next day. Depending on the intensity of your workout and the temperature of the environment, you may also want to consider an electrolyte drink that replenishes sodium and potassium, which is lost in your sweat.

protein

Exercise supports muscle growth, but the body can only build upon existing muscles if they recover after each workout. Consuming protein after exercise helps the muscles to heal and prevents the loss of lean mass. Lean mass is good, it’s what most people are chasing when they want to get that lean sculpted look. Some of our favorite proteins are healthy protein shakes, chicken, fish, and other sources of lean protein.

carbohydrates

Let us be the ones to say it again, carbs are not the enemy. So many times we see fad diets that claim if you cut out carbohydrates, you’ll be leaner and more fit than before. That’s not true. Carbohydrates are macronutrients that help the body recharge and restore its fuel supply. Anyone who exercises heavily should consume plenty of carbohydrates which act as a quick way to replenish glycogen levels. We love brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat toast, and other forms of whole grains.

healthy fats

Fat used to be and still is, a nutrient that is demonized. We want to erase the idea that healthy fats are bad for you. Just like anything, healthy fats can be great for you when consumed in moderate amounts. Too much of anything isn’t good for you, no matter how “healthy” they are. Chances are that you’ll be feeling very hungry after a workout, and healthy fats are great for keeping you full and feeling full longer.

At Inspire Seattle, we want to encourage you to live your healthiest lifestyle every day. While we love physical fitness, we also believe that mental and spiritual fitness is so important. Our Lagree program is designed to challenge you in all three of those aspects.
